Dr. Stokes Becomes Medical Director of Pinecrest Manor

David A. Wolfe, the administrator of Pinecrest Manor, has announced that Dean Stokes, M.D., has become the Medical Director of the long-term care facility at Elk Regional Health Center.

Dr. Stokes will step into the post vacated by Maurus Sorg, M.D., who held the position for 14 years. Dr. Sorg has accepted a full-time position in the Emergency Department at Elk Regional. Dr. Sorg holds Board certification in emergency medicine and has been part of Elk Regional for more than 30 years.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Stokes to Pinecrest Manor,” Mr. Wolfe said. “Our residents and their families are familiar and comfortable with Dr. Stokes, who has maintained a family practice in St. Marys since September 1994. His experience is perfectly suited to his new role. All of us at Pinecrest look forward to working with him.”

“For 14 years, Dr. Sorg worked tirelessly to ensure that the residents of Pinecrest Manor were as happy and healthy as possible,” said Gregory P. Bauer, the President and CEO of Elk Regional Health System. “We are grateful for his service and are pleased to welcome him to the Emergency Department at Elk Regional, where our patients will be able to take advantage of his experience.”

“Placing a loved one in a long-term care facility is often one of the most difficult decisions any family can make,” Dr. Stokes said. “Each family wants the assurance that their loved one will receive quality medical care and an opportunity to continue their lives with true meaning. I am privileged to step into the role of Medical Director at Pinecrest Manor.”

Dr. Stokes earned his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He performed an internship in family practice at Toronto East General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Stokes, who maintains a private practice in Suite 240 of the Medical Office Building at Elk Regional, holds Board certification in family practice.
